Gracia Festival :: Barcelona

{image via visit-bcn}

In a search for creative and festive holiday decorations, I came across this image of a street festival in Barcelona, called Gracia Festival, which takes place in August. Even the recepticals are festive! {If you are ever in Barca in November, and missing American turkey on the 25th, you can find some Thanksgiving festivities happening, here.}

Come over to my tree top hide away

Sit with me, stay a while, have a sip of something yummy and cold. Listen to the birds, read a book or have a party, this deck is rocking and beckoning a ruckus of friends or simply solitude! Hit AT's link for more views.

{another spartan indulgence via departement feminin}

I don't know who would use this product, but I found it on decorno a while ago, and archived it just because it was too funny to pass up. Some things you should just let go.

Her quote"Seriously. I don't have time to make the carpet match the curtains. I am too old for this shit." I am a big fan of decorno, so if you haven't checked it out yet, please do so.

Images of my dream summer home

{eclectic living room via living etc.}

{old farmhouse table with paintbrushes via decorno}

{bunks via decorno that remind me of my friend's Dennisport home that always had enough room for everyone on a fun summer weekend}

{window seat by alvhem2 via decorno with comfy pillows and colorful stack of books inviting you to join them}

White walls are not really my thing day to day, but in the summer, they are fresh cool and a great backdrop for colorful paintings and furnishings just pop. I love the eclectic collections and styles displayed with art, fresh flowers, books, and worldly artifacts.

Adding some color to your life

(images via living etc.)

Rich deliberate color makes such a powerful statement. Refresh your interiors by adding just one bright colored piece. It could be an old desk, chair, mirror, table. Get to your local store and make a paint purchase...get out on that limb and choose a good strong color. Paint your piece and liven up your space. For a few bucks, you have an instant showpiece. Imagine a hot pink mirror! You know the one collecting dust in your attic. You won't be dissapointed. Throw in a coordinating pillow, a throw, or a vase to pull it all together.

I love the different use of plums in the top image, although I am not a fan of floral wall papers. Plum is huge these days. Try pairing it up with lemon or golden yellow to really make the color pop.The second image just feels like spring to me. The cool stripes and bright green on a white backdrop gives the color a crisp center stage profile. The last image is something I have been seeing a lot of...mixing black and white patterns with color...eclectic and sophisticated.

“I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately,

I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life,

To put to rout all that was not life

and not when I had come to die

Discover that I had not lived.”

--Henry David Thoreau, Walden

lusting for

A 21 pound turquoise bowl via alibaba. Imagine it being the bathroom sink? Oh my!

Carved Asian Screen via Oriental-Decor.

But, oh the real passion....take me to Marrakesh. All aboard?

Rooftop sunset anyone?

Tranquil nap?
A festive afternoon gathering?

I hit the style files the other day and almost fainted. I could not scroll fast enough! Danielle de Lange is based in the Netherlands, giving her viewpoint on design from a European perspective. I just love her finds and her inspiration.

These finds were discovered via Marie Claire Maison via the style files.

Refresh your interiors: Part 2

Add splashes of color to rejuvenate your rooms and your spirit. (Especially if you live in the frigid winter zones!) Can you tell the winter is getting to me? With all the talk of sandy beaches, warm sun, and color...I can't wait to "sun and fun" myself. A bio luminescent bay with no moon perhaps? A little comfort for the adventurous soul. For now a pink pillow will have to do.

Brit Style Holiday

Holiday decorating does not have to be expensive, just use a little imagination and your home can sparkle, welcoming your festive brood for some good cheer and jubilation. Simplicity, color and inventiveness are the keys to creating a unique holiday atmosphere. Stay away from the old red and green, add some sparkle and candlelight and most of all, add a little bit of you to your holiday home.

Inspiration and images are all from the the Brit mag, LivingEtc.

Icandy

The Nabucco collection via Designers Guild features Monteverdi fabrics. Out there in the world of textiles and conservatism, it is as edgy as it is lustrous. Shown here are oyster and turquoise color selections. The texture combined with the play on reflection are so interesting, making this fabric as rich as it is unique.

Also from DG is the Racine Collection, Eveline Ocean fabric is featured in the last image. The fabrics are so exciting and different. Eye candy for decor lovers.
